If EndNote weren't a bunch lawyer-happy jerks, I would've bought their product.

I like Endnote's functionality a bit better than the open-source Zotero, but I have a policy of not hanging around with assholes. And it certainly looks like EndNote are assholes.

RjDj - ok. now i get it!

I kept seeing RjDj show up in my rss reader but I didn't quite get it until now.

RjDj takes the microphone on your iPhone --> sends to an effects
unit you can mess around with --> and plays the outside word to you
in your headphones.

Intriguing...

Future Combat Systems?

In visiting the US Army's Future Combat Systems web site
(https://www.fcs.army.mil/) today I came upon this. My machine doesn't
trust their machine becuase my machine can't validate that they are who
they say they are.

In a world of automated computer-based war-fighting, their computer would be currently analyzing my demise.

I Love Presets burrows out from underneath the Chicago Underground Film
Festival on November 1, 2008 at Midnight. Rob Ray, Jon Satrom, and
Jason Soliday have been beneath the earth plotting to raise the un-dead
via live audio/video on the close of the Day of the Dead. Twiddling
knobs in a cauldron of cables, home-brewed electronics, hacked
necro-ware, and abducted audio, I Love Presets will unleash the
sonic-visual calling under-dwellers have been awaiting. Don't miss the
fractals of dark-magic as kamikaze terradactyls break the sound barrier
by dive-bombing cyborg gymnast pyramids.

"Undisclosed Locations" Survey

If you are a fan of underground electronic dance music and of
underground/after-hours parties it would be great if you would help me
out with your opinion. I'm collecting opinions on the topic over on
surveymonkey. If you have a second, I'd love to get your thoughts It's completely anonymous and only takes about 5 minutes.

Haikus for an undisclosed location

"Undisclosed Locations" is an concept that rolls around in my head a lot. Eventually it will roll around enough and I will finish my little papercraft "interactive posters" I am working on to commemorate underground/after-hours party spots. They'll be placed outside the spot after the spot has stopped being used. Passers-by will be able to get a taste of the great experiences people had inside the building. Sort of like a pop up book meets interpretive plaque - but shaped like little DJ mixers and turntables.

Locations used for underground music events are inherently limited in their lifespan. They become too widely known about, or receive one too many noise complaints, or the permanent residents move out, or the spot simply fades away when another more ideal spot is found.

Those posters aren't done yet, but the idea still rolls around in my head. And sometimes things ideas pop out of my head via my fingers. Here are some haikus I wrote influenced some field recordings I made at the HEJ 004 Record Release Sassmouth/Punisher Birthday Party in Chicago.

Haikus for an Undisclosed Location

What’s the cross street?
Don’t worry, I’ll text you.
Check out the leaves.

It’s getting colder.
I love that twelve is early.
five dollars tonight.

I hate his scarf.
Hey! There’s Mike and Junko!
Untz! Untz! Untz! Untz!

Rave Cave Reprazent!
It sounds good in here tonight.
Frosted windows.

I tapped the keg.
Beyer’s set here was sick.
I love this place.

Smoke curls out his nose.
He should have his camera,
and a fat spliff too.

I need a Red Bull
It’s seriously raining.
Oh wait, It just stopped.

I’ve got door duty.
I think the bass is too low.
I should get my hat.

Check Naoko
She’s a dancing machine.
Lights off, sun up.

Is this Dubfire?
Wet leaves by the doorway
limp their way in.

Did that guy just barf?
Liquor store opens at eight.
I can see my breath.

We should call a cab
Oh man I’m fucking freezing.
Man, Your couch rules!
